Emily and Terri share the Joy of Teaching 1st Grade
October29,2016
Emily Mattia has grandchildren of her own and she professes a great joy in being with children and helping them to know Jesus. She has taught at St. Columba for several years and says she will continue to do so as long as she is able. In November Emily will be awarded her certification as a catechist of the Archdiocese of New York. Many of her classes were completed online. Emily enjoys the indepth learning and online sharing.
Emily's assistant, Terri Powers retired from her job and knew instinctively that she couldn't be happy unless she had a purpose, a reason to get out of bed. Terri got involved in a number of the parish organizations and added religious education to her list. She wants to serve as an assistant catechist until she's sure she gets the routine. Terri assists with a large 3rd grade class and the 1st grade class. She has taken to teaching like a fish to water!
We are blessed to have both women active in the ministry of St. Columba Religious Education!
