The Sacrament of Confession provides an opportunity for students to examine thier attitudes and behaviors. Catechists help the students to reflect on the Ten Commandments and to examine their lives in light of what keeps them from God's desire for our happiness.
There is always a good deal of nervous anxiety as the students anticipate going alone into the room for confession. There they take responsibility for the kind of person they have been. It's a challenging task as they confess ways in which they have not been as good as they should have been.
Our priests, Fr. Michael, Msgr. Thompson and Fr. James listen, counsel and send the students off assuring them of God's loving mercy. It is always inspiring to watch the students pray the penance before the image of Our Lady or Jesus on the cross. Often they express relief and joy at feeling new and being able to start over again.
